Fishing Village at the Danish West Coast

Johan Neumann (b. 1860 - d. 1940)

Although Johan Jens Neumann was painting in the impressionists era, his art clearly follows the "realist' style, capturing the images in near-photographic style.

Denmark is a country defined by islands and the seas. Fishing villages line the coasts and the seascapes are filled with sailing vessels and fishing boats.  Much of Neumann's work provides a view into the quaint villages that defined Denmark's shores, with thatched roofs and sand dunes.
